Karen M Cooper, RN, BSN, MA is a Clinical Nurse Consultant with special interest in furthering the understanding of the therapeutic effects of psilocybin, MDMA, and other consciousness-expanding medicines (“psychedelics”). She worked for 3 years paired in Therapy Dyads and as Project Manager for the MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy research in Fort Collins, CO, and was the Lead Guide and Trainer and Clinical Research Nurse for the University of Wisconsin's Psilocybin Pharmacokinetic Study.
Karen served as Supervisor and Director of Mentoring and in various teaching, supportive, and consultative roles at the Center for Psychedelic Therapies and Research training program at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) since 2016 and is currently a private practice consultant, mentor, and advisor with a focus on training, psychoeducation, mindful guidance, and meaning making from psychedelic experiences. Additional skills gained as an RN, Licensed Massage Therapist and Bodyworker, practicing meditator and yogini for over 35 years, a personal journey with cancer and a background in integral, somatic, and transpersonal psychology help her to stay grounded in the present moment with an intention to offer relief, healing, and a better quality of life for individuals and groups who suffer from conditions such as anxiety, depression, end-of-life issues, trauma, and existential angst.
Her outside interests & self-care practices include fiber arts, gardening, painting, and exploring the natural beauty and outdoor activities near her home in Northern Colorado with husband Dr. Dan Muller and their pup, Zev.
